Statement on Collection of Personal Information

Austral-Asian Christian Church, in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Chap 486) implements the following policy of the collection, use, protection, and examination of personal data

  1. The purpose of collecting data

The Austral-Asian Christian Church (hereinafter referred to as AACC) will collect your personal data in a legal and fair manner. The purpose of collecting the information is to record and review the services; to fulfil statutory responsibility in processing the enrolment for courses and activities; receiving AACC news; recruitment; and donation record. The provision of personal data to AACC is purely voluntary. However, if you fail to provide sufficient personal information, AACC may not be able to process your application or provide you with the information or services you need.

  2. Protection for Personal Data

AACC will keep your personal data confidential. The relevant data will only be used for the purposes stated or for purposes permitted by the Ordinance. AACC will take practicable arrangements to ensure that data held is protected against unauthorized access, processing, erasure or other misuse. Your personal data will be kept for no longer than the time required for the purpose for which it was collected. Under the above circumstances, AACC can only use your information for the specified purpose.

  3. Use of the personal information provided

The personal information you provided will be used by our staff who need to know the information in their work.

AACC may send promotional materials to you by post, fax, telephone, email or other means of communication. If you choose not to receive, just call: 8231 9993 or email itds@aaccsa.org.au Or by post to 294-300 Morphett Street, Adelaide, South Australia 5000

  4. Access and Amendment of Personal Data

With the exemption stipulated in the “Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance”, you have the right to request access to and amend your data, except those that has been deleted after use.

If you want a copy of your personal data, please write to us by post or email and pay a required fee. Upon receiving your written request and the payment, we will reply within 30 working days.

  5. Data Transfer

If you use credit cards for school fees or donation, your credit card information may be transferred to a third party (such as a bank). Unless permitted or required by law, AACC will not transfer your personal data to third parties (ie non-AACC employees or unauthorized persons) without your consent.

There are hyperlinks in AACC website. This statement is not applicable to other third-party websites, and we does not control how they collect and use information.

  6. Use of cookies

Our website may use cookies to collect information about the user’s information to improve the functionality of the website. Users should also be aware that once cookies are disabled, certain functions on the website may not be available.

Mobile Application

This section applies to the AACC mobile app for Android and iOS, published by Austral-Asian Christian Church (AACC).

Using the app without signing in. Most of the app — church news, weekly flyers, Sunday service videos, sermon recordings, rosters and the church constitution — can be used without signing in and without giving us any personal information.

Information we collect when you sign in. Church staff create and maintain member records in the church’s membership register. The app does not create accounts. If you choose to sign in, you enter your registered mobile number and we send you a one-time code by SMS to confirm it is you. Once signed in, the app holds your name, member number and mobile number so it can show your membership pass. Your mobile number is also used to send the one-time code and to prevent misuse of the sign-in process.

Information we collect when you ask for help. If you use the “Need help?” form, we receive the name, mobile number and email address you type in, together with your message, so the church office can reply to you.

Information collected automatically. The app uses the following services, which collect information on our behalf:

  • Google Firebase (Analytics and Cloud Messaging) — anonymous usage statistics such as which screens are opened, an app installation identifier, and a device token used to deliver push notifications. Firebase Analytics does not use your device’s location services; a general region may be estimated from a masked IP address.
  • Bugsnag — crash reports and performance diagnostics, so we can find and fix faults.

We do not use this information to advertise to you, the app contains no advertising, and we do not sell your personal information.

How your information is protected. All communication between the app and our servers uses encrypted HTTPS connections. Information stored on your device is held in an encrypted database.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your app account from inside the app at any time:

  1. Open the app and sign in.
  2. Go to the Menu tab (選單).
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account (刪除帳戶), shown in red below “About”.
  4. Confirm when the app asks you to.

You will be signed out immediately.

What is deleted: your sign-in session, the registered device record and any unused one-time codes are deleted straight away, and your membership pass stops working.

What is kept: your underlying membership record stays in the church’s membership register, because the church needs it for its own governance, statutory and pastoral purposes — this is not app data. Deleting your app account does not resign your church membership. Support requests you have already sent are kept as a record of the enquiry.

If you would also like your membership record removed, or you cannot use the app, email mobile@aaccsa.org.au or write to the Administration Department, 294–300 Morphett Street, Adelaide, South Australia 5000. We will reply within 30 working days.

Children. The app is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from children through the app.
